  • What does solar cost?

There's a handful of variables that may impact the price. However, you can expect to pay between $2.50 and $4.00 per installed watt of solar power for a grid-tied system.

  • Does solar work in Kentucky?

Yes. As sunlight is sufficient in our region, installing solar panels is a financially viable option.

  • What is the return on investment for solar?

Residentially speaking, we see an average ROI of 10-14 years. Commercial projects can have a payback period as low as eight years.

  • What is the warranty on solar panels?

The solar panels we use have a minimum performance warranty of 25 years.

  • What is the lifespan of solar panels?

There is a minimum of 30 years from a panel, with an average annual degradation of 0.5% in performance.

  • What's the difference between a microinverter and a string inverter?

On one hand, a microinverter converts DC power from the panel to AC power at the array, typically connecting 1-4 panels to each inverter. On the other, a string inverter connects all panels in 1-3 strings and converts DC power to AC away from the array.

  • Is there long-term maintenance with solar panels?

More often than not, panels require minimal maintenance. However, regular checks by your installer or a service provider are ideal.

  • Is there a tax credit for solar?

A federal tax credit is available for solar power. The residential credit is $5695, and the commercial credit is $3468. Commercial systems may also qualify for accelerated depreciation. Please consult www.dsireusa.org for additional incentives.

  • Are there state incentives for solar?

Not in Kentucky. Please consult www.dsireusa.org for all available incentives.

  • Do I need to replace my roof with solar?

It's best to replace a roof nearing the end of its lifespan before installing a solar system. Consider having your roof inspected before soliciting bids for solar panels.
